"I have worked at Alina Lodge for 18 years. I remember many specific successes quite well, but the one that really stands out in my mind is when one of our former students returned for an anniversary one Saturday evening. He was so dapper and absolutely elegant, it is hard for me to express how impressed I was. When I asked another staff member who he was because I didn't recognize him, I was totally amazed! He had come in only two years earlier as one of the most physically ill students I had ever seen. (Remember, I have been at the Lodge for 18 years). What a miracle! It is experiences like this one that make me love working here, and knowing that as a team, we can make a difference in many, many lives, and we do."

"Alina Lodge saved my life and established basic principles ingrained in me that I now follow daily. Because of this, I believe in and am committed to furthering its principles for living a sober and productive life. "
Bill Menges, Board Member

"I sold a thriving business and changed my career to work at Alina Lodge. I wanted to get in the circle of giving and offer whatever I could so that maybe I could witness someone else have the transformative experience I was so lucky to encounter. But mostly I wanted to engage in the world in this way. It makes me feel alive."
Jackie Fernandez, Women’s Counselor

"I believe in the mission and want to be an example of the great work we do each day."

Testimonials"Personally, Alina Lodge means to me a haven that that offers hope and a chance for a life free of alcohol and drugs. It means being able to sleep at night not worrying about my son's whereabouts. I think Alina Lodge saved my son's life.

While my son was at the Lodge we experienced many emotions. Sometimes we wondered if he would ever recover. Often when we visited he was angry, frustrated, ungrateful and stubborn. We learned why our denial, enabling and attempts to control were futile. We learned that we could not solve his problems. We learned to let go and let the professionals and staff at the Lodge do their work. As our son progressed so did my husband and myself. It was not easy. It was work but the results were entirely worthwhile. Our son recently celebrated his 5th year of recovery. He enjoys his life, has a responsible job and is a pleasure to be with. The son who was "lost" is back. We are thankful every day for all that Alina Lodge did for us.

This is a message from a very grateful parent. Alina Lodge gave our son the tools to live a drug free life. He is now making wonderful memories with his family & friends. Thank you to all the counselors & caring people at the Lodge. The dreams of a better life have become a reality."

"My experience of hope began after I had been at Alina Lodge 2-3 months. I had hit rock bottom in my life. I was unemployable, I had lost all my money and possessions, I had lost family and friends and most of all I had lost myself. Luckily for me, my family with the assist of a very special lady, Toni Curry, got me into Alina Lodge in July 1994. I had no hope and I believed there was nothing or no one that could or would get me well. I only stayed at Alina Lodge because I had nowhere else to go and I knew if I left that I would die on the streets. So faced with death, I stayed and began to do the work that was suggested, even though I believed with all my heart that I could not get sober. Day after day and month after month, I stayed, I listened and my hope began to grow. I don’t know exactly when it happened but I know it did happen, one day I began to believe that I could get sober. The best decision I ever made was to stay at Alina Lodge, do the work, trust the counselors and get out of the way. By doing so, I am getting ready to celebrate 17 years of continuous sobriety from alcohol and drugs and that is truly a miracle. From hopeless and lost to a productive member of society, a healed family and a very good worker among workers. I am a father today and I am blessed to be a sober father raising our 13 year old son. Alina Lodge and the staff saved my life and I was given a gift of sobriety. They loved me even when I could not love myself."

"TestimonialsI am a board member because one of the things I learned at Alina Lodge is to be available and help others when at all possible. To serve on the board at Alina Lodge is a great honor and I take the responsibility very seriously as I want to be a positive part of continuing the mission of Alina Lodge so that other lost souls like me have an opportunity to get well. When I received the call to serve on the Alina Board, I jumped at the opportunity to give back. By doing so, it keeps me close to Alina Lodge, the staff and the students. It is a great reminder of who I am and where I have come from. To give back is a huge part of my life today and serving on the board and in giving in my time, finances and expertise is a great way for me to pay forward the gift I was so freely given when I was a student at Alina Lodge 17 years ago. I have served one full term on the Board, was the Board president and now I have been asked to serve again and I am gladly doing so and honored that I was asked to serve a new term. Alina lodge and its staff gave me hope and a chance to live my life as a clean and sober man, and for that I will always be grateful."

"My son turned 18, barely graduated high school and became a full-blown addict in the same month. Life became hell for my family. This went on for months and I prayed he'd get arrested. When he finally did, l let him detox in jail. As he was begging me to come get him, we came to an agreement. I took him straight to Alina Lodge with a commitment from him to a 90 day stay. It wasn't easy for him but he made his 90 days and then chose to continue his treatment at the Lodge. I was ecstatic! He got involved with the psychodrama and grief programs and they seemed to have a tremendous impact on him. After a total of 7 months, the Lodge selected the perfect aftercare program for my son and moved him on. He's doing very well! I have great hope for my son at this point, but more importantly, he has a self-confidence and self-awareness I haven't seen in him in a long time. I have to thank Alina Lodge for all their wisdom, support and patience. This is a tough program but well worth it! "
