Residential Addiction Treatment Program

Customized, Individual Treatment in New Jersey

Since opening its doors in 1957, Alina Lodge has been at the forefront of addiction treatment, and today is widely considered to be among the top residential addiction treatment centers in the United States. Located among the gorgeous state parks and state forests of New Jersey, Alina Lodge’s campus is an ideal place to begin your recovery journey. Numerous factors set Alina Lodge apart from other facilities. Primary among these is the fact that we focus specifically on treatment for addiction.

Our residential programs vary in duration based upon the needs of our guests. Our minimum stay for residential treatment is 28 days, with more extended duration programs available as needed. While we are known for focusing on long-term addiction treatment, we know that providing a 28-day minimum increases access to the same quality, proven care we have delivered for years. Not everyone struggling with addiction can commit to a long-term residential program due to time, cost, or obligations at work or home.

In the residential addiction treatment program at Alina Lodge, we take the time to understand the root causes of addiction in each of our guests and ensure that once they move on from our program, they have the tools they need for lifelong recovery. It is this kind of attention to the unique needs of each of our guests that has earned us the reputation we have today.

The Stages of Addiction

Drugs and alcohol are neurotransmitter inhibitors that force your brain to release more neurotransmitters than it should. This rush of neurotransmitters is responsible for the pleasurable effects of intoxication and changes to your pleasure and reward center. Your brain associates your substance of choice with pleasure because of the positive effects you experience when you use it.

Over time, your brain becomes dependent on your substance of choice to release neurotransmitters. Additionally, your brain connects everything that reminds you of your substance of choice with pleasure, and when you’re exposed to triggers, you deal with intense cravings. Certain substances can also cause physical dependence. When your body is physically addicted to a substance, you can deal with withdrawal symptoms if you immediately stop using it.

While most withdrawal symptoms are painful and uncomfortable but not fatal, certain substances can cause life-threatening complications. Alcohol detox can lead to delirium tremens, which causes changes to your body temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate. Once you develop a physical addiction, a residential addiction treatment center like the one offered by Alina Lodge is typically necessary to guide you through medically supervised detox and the initial phases of recovery.

What a Residential Treatment Program Can Offer

At Alina Lodge’s residential treatment center in New Jersey, we specialize in long-term care. A guest's journey often begins with a medically supervised detoxification program, which takes place in one of the centers that make up our comprehensive network of detox facilities. From there, you will move into our residential treatment to continue your recovery journey.

The clinical team at Alina Lodge always customizes treatment for each of our guests, but it will include a combination of approaches. These include but are not limited to:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy
  • Dialectical behavior therapy
  • Trauma informed therapy
  • Individual, group, and family therapy
  • Medication management
  • Dual-diagnosis treatment
  • Aftercare planning and alumni care

During treatment, you will remain on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The increased structure provides you with constant access to members of your treatment team, which is especially beneficial if you have a severe addiction, have made multiple attempts at treatment, or have co-occurring mental health conditions.

Since many people who battle addiction also have a co-occurring conditions, our residential treatment program in New Jersey can provide specialized dual-diagnosis programs. When you have a co-occurring disorder like depression, anxiety, or PTSD, it’s necessary to treat both conditions simultaneously to recover fully.
